This is a road map of Calabar, the capital city of Cross River State, Nigeria. This project aims to show the different road networks in the area, both major and minor. The tool employed was the ArcMap, and the following steps were taken:
After launching the ArcMap software, a new document was opened, and the shapefiles needed in this project were imported into the working environment by clicking on the "Add Data" button found in the toolbar of the ArcMap working environment.
Define your study area by selecting your study area boundary and clipping or extracting (where necessary)to isolate the data relevant to your study area.
Prepare your map layout by setting the grid (coordinate system) to ensure all layers are in the same coordinate system for accurate presentation. Furthermore, adjust the layer properties, such as labels, transparency, and symbology, to make the data visually clear and informative. Then, add other elements such as the scale bar, legend, neat line, north arrow, and title to your map layout.
Finalise your map by reviewing all map elements to ensure that all map elements are clear and informative, and check for spelling and accuracy.
Export your map by saving it as an image file or a PDF for either printing or distribution. Also, make sure your ArcMap document is saved to keep all layers and settings intact.
