Flood Risk in Populated Areas

As part of a class on disaster response/management, my team and I looked at flood risks in the Philippines. I created two maps, one with rasterized population data to show population density. The other map has an overlay of flood risk. To create that layer, I found a study (Takagi et al., 2016) that estimated the maximum storm surge in the Philippines. The Elevation data was then masked to exclude values over 4m, outside the maximum storm surge. This showed that many of the areas most at risk of flooding were also the most densely populated.
