Riau Malay is the regional language with the most speakers in Dumai City. This is because the majority of Dumai's population are Malays who use the Coastal Malay dialect as illustrated in the reconstruction map of the research results of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia in 1991 regarding the structure of the Riau dialect of Coastal Malay.
