Oil & Gas Wells Near Hazards, in La Habra Heights, CA

Description of Data:

1)   City Layer: I had to find the layer for just the city of La Habra Heights. Having done a search before (in the past for a paper) I knew I wasn’t going to find it. I did try again for this project and came across a layer of the city annexations. (Using the annexation layer to isolate the city was just a personal preference.) I did do a quick definition query to isolate just the city of La Habra Heights in order to make my map.

2)   Fire Zone Data: I found a geodatabase for fire zones and past fires. I used a “past fires” layer to show recent and long past fires. This is to show that this is a high fire zone hazard for this city.

3)   Fault Activity Data for CA: This was also a geodatabase and just wanted to apply a layer showing that there is a large earthquake fault going right through the city.

4)   Oil & Gas Wells Layer: I simply placed this layer showing that these oil and gas wells are located in or near hazards such as a major fault line or major fire prone zones within the city.
