Project: Site Suitability Analysis for the Ornithology Society of Surrey (OSS) Research and Education Center
The newly-formed Ornithology Society of Surrey (OSS) is applying for a grant to establish a research and community education center. To support their application, OSS has collected bird sighting data and would like to demonstrate to grant distributors that the proposed location for the center is strategically important for the future of ornithological research in the City of Surrey. In addition to their internal objectives, the Society acknowledges that the City of Surrey may impose land-use and infrastructure constraints.
Site Selection Criteria:
The OSS Center must be located within 500 meters of key parks known for bird diversity.
The site must be within 500 meters of the Green Infrastructure Network.
The center must not be located in commercial or industrial zones.
The site must have direct access to the existing road network to avoid the need for constructing new roads.
The center must be located in a previously existing building to minimize development costs.
Among potential locations that meet the above criteria, preference should be given to areas with the highest number of bird sightings, based on OSS data.
