According to the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO), 2024 was the most violent year since World War II. In Central America, Honduras accounted for more than 50% of the conflicts last year, ranking as the 25th most violent country in the Conflict Index. Guatemala, on the other hand, was the second most violent country in the region and ranked 35th in the Conflict Index. However Guatemala exhibited a downward trend, having descended by 10 positions compared to the previous year.
