In building this map, I combined poverty and food access data from the USDA’s Food Access Research Atlas and tract layers from the US Census Bureau to identify areas with both high poverty and limited food access in Los Angeles County. I classified poverty into three levels based on the official poverty measures and used symbology to highlight the overlap between poverty and low-access areas. This layered approach provided a nuanced view of food insecurity, identifying areas most in need.
