Remote Sensing based Agave Classifcation

During the past two decades the tequila industry has gone parabolic. As demand has increased so has the need to harvest more agave. This study looked at the amount of agave being harvested in Arandas, Jalisco. Large amounts of land have been and are being converted to only be used for agave and not any other food crops. Several environmental issues have resulte from this increase in demand for tequila. These issues range from soil erosion, water scarcity, toxic runoff, and habitat destruction.
