I generated a local species distribution model in Maxent software for the Eastern Slender Glass Lizard (Ophisaurus attenuatus longicaudus) in North Central Florida. The map shown here is only a preliminary model; an improved model is in the works.
Occurrence records for O. attenuatus longicaudus were sourced from iNaturalist and museum vouchers. I removed recors that were less than 2 km from another records to reduce possible effects of autocorrelation. The jacknife test depicts the contribution of each of the 12 predictor variables, which were generated from open source data on landcover, elevation, soil properties, and climate. Distance to sandhill had the largest contribution to the model (39.8%), followed by sand-to-clay ratio (18.1%), solar radiation (11.8%), and distance to marshes (10.4%). The AUC value of 0.82 for the test data suggests that this model performs moderately well.
See my project titled "Maxent Species Distribution Model" for demonstration of how probability of presence values can be summarized by land tracts.
