Watershed Delineation

This map illustrates the Hickahala Creek Subwatershed in northern Mississippi, highlighting its topography, hydrology, and monitoring infrastructure.

  • Main Map (left):

    • The subwatershed boundary is outlined in black.

    • Elevation data from a USGS Digital Elevation Model (DEM) is classified into five ranges (63–176 meters) and displayed in color gradients, from lower elevations (brown) to higher elevations (blue).

    • The river and stream network is shown in light blue, including the primary river reaches (HWD_Reach) and secondary streams (WD_RIVERS).

    • Gauging stations are marked as green dots with black outlines, distributed throughout the watershed to monitor hydrological parameters.

  • Inset Map (bottom right):

    • Shows the location of the Hickahala Creek Subwatershed (black polygon) within Mississippi, with the county boundaries and the subregion highlighted in pink.

  • Legend (top right):

    • Explains the symbology for elevation, water bodies, river network, and monitoring stations.

Overall, the map provides a spatial overview of the watershed’s physical and hydrological features, supporting environmental monitoring, water resource management, and geospatial analysis.
