These are a couple of attempts I made to create a forested ski slope using QGIS, Tippecanoe, and Mapbox. Steps/resources:
1. Digitized the forested patches around the ski slope in QGIS.
2. Generated 100k random points in the digitized polygon.
3. Reviewed USFS reports to get a rough idea of species composition for the area.
4. Assigned a random portion of the points as evergreen and the rest as broadleaf.
5. Randomly assigned evergreen and broadleaf trees as small, medium, and large.
6. Generated the vector tiles using Tippecanoe and uploaded and styled the tiles in Mapbox Studio (uploaded custom SVG graphics for the trees)
