Using data from the Chicago Data Portal, affordable rental housing locations were mapped alongside Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train and bus lines within the city boundary. Multiple spatial layers were integrated to visualize the distribution of affordable housing and its proximity to public transit infrastructure. Cartographic techniques such as color coding and symbol hierarchy were applied to enhance clarity and accessibility. This map provides a comprehensive overview of the density of affordable rental housing across Chicago, highlighting patterns of transit accessibility for these units. By illustrating potential gaps in transit coverage for affordable housing, this map can support urban planning, policy-making, and equitable housing initiatives, as well as assist residents in identifying well-connected housing options.
