Using QGIS, Natural Earth data was processed and visualized to create a detailed map of California’s geographical and urban features. To enhance spatial understanding, multiple layers were incorporated, including state boundaries, transportation networks, and natural landmarks. To improve readability, inset maps were designed to provide a more detailed view of major urban areas at a larger scale, using cartographic principles such as scale optimization and color accessibility. Additionally, symbology and labeling were customized to improve clarity and accessibility. This map can support urban planning, environmental analysis, and policy-making by offering a clear spatial representation of California’s diverse landscapes and infrastructure. It also helps first-time visitors gain a broad overview of the state's landscape, making it easier to navigate and understand its geographic diversity.
