The goal was to convert a Digital Elevation Model of the Kootenai River into a Relative Elevation Model. This involves detrending the baseline surface elevation to match the water surface of the river, which is a visualisation technique to highlights discrete features like meander scars, terraces, oxbow lakes, etc. REMs are not just aesthetically pleasing but are a useful tool for understanding river channel migration and flood studies.
