Multi-criteria Analysis

The aim of this multi-criteria analysis was to identify parking lots which could potentially welcome a photovoltaic canopy according to six discriminatory criteria. A binary classification method was used in order to determine which parking lots awnsered to the six criteria. The study area is the Montérégie region in the south of the province of Quebec, Canada.

L'objectif de cette analyse multicritère fut d'identifier des parcs de stationnement pouvant potentiellement accueillir des canopées photovoltaïques selon six critères discriminatoires. Une méthode de classification binaire fut utilisée afin de déterminer quels parcs de stationnements répondent de manière positive aux six critères. La zone d'étude est la région de la Montérégie se trouvant au sud de la province de Québec au Canada.

Criteria:

  • Within a zone of a daily average solar irradiance of at least 5 kWh/m2

  • Within 100 m of a road

  • Within 1 km of a power transmission line

  • Within 5 km radius of a power transformer

  • Outside of a 300 m buffer zone surrounding water

  • Parking lot area must be equal or above 1 000 m2
