Growing up on the West Coast I have always been aware of wildfires and the risk that comes with them. When I went to college in Virginia, I experienced a very different climate with very different natural disasters. Inspired by that I made this web map that breaks down the United States into counties and visualizes the risk of 5 natural disasters. The layers are transparent so you can see overlaps. I decided to make it a web map because I found that while pretty, it is a little too busy to use as a static map. It offers far more functionality when users are able to toggle on and off layers based on where they are looking.
