Applied advanced spatial statistics to Copernicus Marine nitrate products to identify nutrient hotspots and coldspots in the Bay of Bengal, linking physical drivers (river plumes, offshore oligotrophy) to ecosystem functioning.
Derived a yearly median composite of satellite-derived surface nitrate and clipped it to a Bay of Bengal polygon.
Computed Local Getis‑Ord Gi* on the nitrate raster to map statistically significant hotspots and coldspots, including 99% confidence hotspots associated with major river plumes.
Interpreted clustering patterns in terms of biogeochemical functioning, productivity gradients, and coastal–offshore contrasts, demonstrating capacity to connect EO/statistics with oceanographic and ecological processes.
