Project Overview:

Wildfire has helped shape Alberta's landscape for generations. The wildfire risk increases significantly as the province's population grows and communities become more integrated with Alberta's forests. Many communities currently face a high to extreme wildfire risk. These areas where human development meets or intermingles with the natural environment fall within the wildland-urban interface (WUI). This story map highlights significant wildfires in Alberta from 2006 to 2021.
