This project set out to see if there was any relationship between pasture cash expense per acre and beef cows in Idaho in 2023. Based on the choropleth dot map there seems to be somewhat of a relationship between the two variables as counties with the greater pasture cash expense per acre and beef cow heads, but this trend is primarily only present in the south and south east counties. The OLS regression indicates that there not any significant relationship between the to variables with the exception of a few counties in south and south eastern Idaho.
When analyzing the OLS regression with a linear regression calculator in which the independent variable is the number of beef cow heads as x and the dependent variable being the pasture cash expense per acre as the y. The regression calculator revealed that R square which is what measures the variability of the independent variable on the dependent variable was .000029. This means that beef cows only account for .00003 percent of the variability in pasture cash expense per acre in 2023 indicating there is a weak relationship between the two variables.
