This project examines school walking zones in a section of Washington State using network analysis, specifically for servicearea analysis based on walking times. The map highlights areas within a 5-minute (purple), 10-minute (green), and 15-minute (red) walk from the nearest school. By modeling these walkable zones, the analysis helps city planners, school administrators, and parents visualize school accessibility, revealing which neighborhoods have safe and easy walking access for students and where infrastructure improvements, like sidewalks, may be needed. From a practical standpoint, this analysis could guide decisions on future school locations, identify gaps in pedestrian infrastructure, and improve student safety through better walkability to schools.
