The original idea of the exercise was to map out the walking distances from schools in the D.C. area by adding walking distances in a multi-layered map of the area.
In the future, I would like to do research on home ranges of North American large cats and ungulates. This program would be an amazing tool for tracking home ranges and migration patterns. One application could be to layer historically recorded home ranges under current data collected by tagged specimens. By doing this, we can get an accurate look at how the ranges either have shrunk or expanded overtime. Another application is for tracking habitat loss and deforestation in regards to forest fires and the ever-expanding agricultural economy that puts intense pressure on wildlands.
