4a: Geodatabase Feature Class Setup

In this exercise, I converted shapefiles into geodatabase feature classes to streamline the management of water infrastructure data. I assigned unique symbols to various components such as waterlines, valves, hydrants, wells, and water pressure zones, enhancing the map’s visual clarity and making it easier to interpret the network. Additionally, I established an attribute domain within the geodatabase to maintain data integrity, allowing for controlled entry of values and ensuring that attributes for water infrastructure are consistent and reliable. This exercise can be applied in water resource management, particularly in assessing and optimizing urban water distribution systems. By organizing data into geodatabase feature classes and employing standardized symbology, water management professionals can quickly identify critical infrastructure components, monitor system performance, and make informed decisions about maintenance and upgrades.
