DC Schools Safe Walk Map

Chapter 1 project maps out DC public schools and provides data represented in three layers: school locations, safety incident locations (layer turned off), and a walking distance to school layer. Schools are represented by a "school" icon. Walking times are represented in colour. Green represents a 5 minute walk, blue represents a 10 minute walk, and red represents a 15 minute walk. This map provides information valuable to city planners, families with children shopping for real estate, and neighborhood safety groups/programs, the schools and the school children.

An Environmental application for this type of project would be a map of Ontario as a base layer, a layer showing location of Native Reserves, and a layer showing water distribution infrastructure. It would be helpful to have a visual analysis showing the provinces gaps and failures to provide distribution infrastructure.
