Working with ArcGIS Online allowed me to get used to its structure and abilities. I began by searching for and opening a public map of various traffic incidents in Washington, D.C. Next, I changed the symbology, clusters and popups to increase the maps clarity for public use, for example showcasing more serious and frequent violations in the red cluster. This exercise allowed me to get comfortable with the location of different features on ArcGIS pro online and quickly adjust the data and attributes.
I can transfer these skills into a future career in the environmental industry, particularly in conservation and planning. For example, the clustering tool could highlight the potential flood risk to identify high risk development areas.
