A language nest is a special type of language school popular in the theory of the revitalization of languages, wherein members of one or more communities are invited and welcomed by several different programmes, for all ages (but especially children) aimed at promoting fluency in the communities' endangered language(s). This Location-Allocation analysis was run to find the best place for a coalition of First Nations to build a language nest promoting fluency in several of their languages, in two areas in southern BC. 2021 Census Data from Statistics Canada was extensively used; we considered only the Indigenous population living on-reserve and calculated, for each reserve, the number of people who were of Indigenous ancestry but had not yet learned their Indigenous mother tongue. Using the BC Road Atlas as a network, a Location-Allocation analysis was run on the sites of the reserves of the study areas to find the best site in which to build a language nest.
