As part of an academic activity in the "GEOG 190: Map, Aerial Photo, and Satellite Image Interpretation" unit, I was tasked to visualize and generate true color, false color, and my ideal version of the Landsat 8 image of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill in April-May 2010. The output attached are screenshots of the Multispec output.
Utilized Multispec for Digital Image Processing and Spatial Analysis:
Enhanced the image via linear stretch and clipping the tails (11%) to imitate Landsat 7 output.
Changed the RGB values to recreate true colors and my ideal version (black and white) that vividly captures the entirety of the oil spill.
The reasoning for this ideal version is due to the fact that oil spills absorb light more than water.
